What mogbo moya actually means
Mo gbo mo ya is Yoruba for roughly I heard about it and I turned up. Mogbo mobranch is the same idea, with branch standing in for turning off the road into the venue. Someone hears there is a party, sees the canopy, smells the jollof, and branches in.
For generations this was completely fine. Food was cooked in bulk, nobody was counting, and an extra fifty faces meant the party was sweet. It was a compliment.
Then owambe became an industry. Your caterer charges per plate. Your rentals charge per chair. Your souvenirs are counted and signed for. Your venue has a legal capacity and your asoebi list is a spreadsheet. The party got professional and the gate did not.
So the question is no longer how to keep people out. It is how to know your real number before the food runs out.

Bouncers at the gate
They do not know your uncle from your husband’s business partner. So they either let everybody through or they stop the wrong person, and now there is a scene at your entrance.
Printed invitation cards
One card gets photographed and sent to a group chat. By Saturday morning forty people are holding the same picture and every one of them believes they are invited.
The list on paper
One person, one biro, and three hundred guests arriving inside twenty minutes. The queue backs into the road and the list stops being checked by the fiftieth guest.
WhatsApp broadcast
A forwarded message has no owner. It travels further than you sent it and there is no way to tell who received it from you and who received it from a stranger.

What control actually looks like on the day
Nobody at your gate asks a single guest who invited them. That conversation is the thing that causes the scene, so we remove it entirely.
One code, one guest
Every person on your list gets their own QR invitation by email before the day. No two codes are the same.
Used once, then dead
The moment a code is scanned it is spent. A screenshot of it arriving later shows the original entry time and is turned away.
You watch it from your seat
Every scan appears on your dashboard as it happens. You know your real headcount while the party is still running, not the next morning.
A record you can settle with
Afterwards you get who attended, when they arrived and your busiest entry hours. Useful when the caterer’s invoice does not match your memory.

Two things we will not pretend about
Offline gates cannot see each other
If your venue loses network, scanning carries on and every check-in syncs when the connection returns. But while two gates are both offline, neither knows what the other has scanned, so the same code can get through at both and is flagged on sync rather than blocked live. Online, that never happens.
A scan takes about a second
Not instant. About a second per guest in real testing at live events. For three hundred guests arriving in a rush, that is why we tell you to open more than one gate rather than promising one line will fly.
